Great Falls students showcased their craftsmanship by building a shed for the Home & Garden Show, as reported by Paul Sanchez. The shed, constructed by students from Great Falls Public School Construction program, will be raffled at the upcoming event.
The students, under the guidance of Construction Teacher Pete Pace, will transport the shed to the Four Seasons Arena for display during the Home & Garden Show. This initiative, now in its fourth year, allows students to demonstrate their skills while raising funds for new tools and equipment for their construction classes.
During the show, students will take turns selling raffle tickets and presenting the shed to attendees. The shed’s interior will be open for viewing, giving visitors a glimpse of the students’ hard work and dedication.
Pace expressed pride in his students’ work and highlighted their enthusiasm for showcasing the shed. He mentioned that the Home Builders Association’s support provides students with a platform to engage with the community and promote their project.
The raffle drawing for the shed is scheduled for the final day of the Home & Garden Show, offering attendees a chance to own the handcrafted structure. Free delivery will be provided for the shed winner within the Great Falls area.
The Home & Garden Show will take place at Montana ExpoPark in Great Falls from March 28 to March 30, with varying timings for each day. Admission is $5 per person, and children under 17 can enter for free when accompanied by a paid adult.
This educational initiative not only benefits the students by enhancing their construction skills but also contributes to the local community by providing a unique and practical showcase at the Home & Garden Show. The hands-on experience gained by the students through building the shed adds a practical dimension to their learning, preparing them for future endeavors in the construction industry.
Events like these serve as a platform for students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world projects, fostering creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit. Such initiatives bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, equipping students with valuable skills and experiences for their future careers.
By participating in community events like the Home & Garden Show, students not only gain exposure and recognition for their work but also establish connections within the industry, potentially opening doors to future opportunities and collaborations. This hands-on approach to education not only benefits students but also enriches the local community by showcasing talent and fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.
